Ramiz Mehdiyev: "Russian community is binding link between Azerbaijan and Russia”
Baku, June 28 (AZERTAC). “At present, Azerbaijan is home to the largest Russian community in the South Caucasus. The Russian community is a real link between Azerbaijan and Russia.” The statement came on Thursday from the Head of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev at the Third Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional forum "Russian-Azerbaijani dialogue 2012" in Baku.
Ramiz Mehdiyev emphasized that there are 20 schools in Azerbaijan in which classes are taught in Russian. In addition, the largest training center for Russian Language - Slavic University - and a branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University are based in Baku. According to Mehdiyev, more than 50 newspapers and magazines in Azerbaijan are published in Russian.
