THIRD CONGRESS OF AZERBAIJANI WOMEN OPENS IN BAKU
Third Congress of Azerbaijani women opened in Baku on 26 September.
The Congress is attended by about 1600 delegations from different regions of Azerbaijan, country officials, representatives of different governmental structures, international organizations, foreign ambassadors as well as other guests.
The event participants have to consider current state of the work for development of women`s movement of Azerbaijan through the past five years, define perspectives of the activity of state structures and NGOs for raising gender equality and adopt a number of other documents.
Head of the Presidential department Fatma Abdullazade read our congratulatory letter of President Ilham Aliyev to the Congress participants.
Then, the floor was given to the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva.
Chairperson of the State Committee on Women`s Affairs Hijran Huseynova made a report on state policy on women in the country, their role in the society, contacts of Azerbaijani women with foreign organizations, tasks of the State Committee for the coming years.
The first congress of the Azerbaijani women was held in Baku in 1998 and the second took place in 2003.
