Turkish press spotlights victories of Azerbaijani athletes at London Olympics

Baku, August 16 (AZERTAC). A number of Turkish newspapers covered the triumph of Azerbaijani athletes at the 30th London Summer Olympic Games.

Today`s Zaman newspapers has published an article entitled “London bids adieu with music, US tops table; Rio takes over”.

The article says that as Russia and Turkey hope 4 and 2 gold medals respectively, the first country satisfied only with one, but Azerbaijani and Iranian wrestlers demonstrating best performances were the pleasant surprises of the games.

Another newspaper Akhis also highlighted Azerbaijani wrestler Sharif Sharifov`s triumph after Turkish athletes Asli Cakiralp and Qamze Bulut.

The media praised the waving of the Turkish flag by the Azerbaijani Olympic champion.

NTV CNBS TV Channel`s web site also praised 10 medals of Azerbaijan at the London Olympics.

“Azerbaijan has completed the Olympic Games with two gold, two silver and six bronze medals ranking 30th in the Olympic Games, but Armenia finished in the 60th place,” according to the news in the Turkish TV channel 24.
