Uzbek newspaper interviews Azerbaijani poet Sabir Rustamkhanly
Tashkent, January 9 (AZERTAC). A Tashkent-based Uzbek newspaper called “Kitob Dunyosi” (The Books World) has interviewed the Azerbaijani People’s Poet, Member of Parliament Sabir Rustamkhanly, who reminded close relations among the men of culture and literature of two countries still during the former Soviet Union. Rustamkhanly noted that in those days the works by Uzbek writers - Gafur Gulam, Mirtemir, Zulfiyya, Abdulla Aripov, Ibrahim Gafurov and others have been published in the Azerbaijani language in Baku.
In the interview it is noted that Magsud Sheykhzade with Azerbaijani origin later was exiled to Uzbekistan and in the fraternal country became a famous writer, the classic of Uzbek literature, who, according to Rustamkhanly, is a bridge between two brotherly nations.
Azerbaijan’s classical poets Nizami Ganjavi, Imadeddin Nesimi, Mahammad Fizuli are beloved also in Uzbekistan, Rustamkhanly underlined. Their works have repeatedly been published in Uzbek language.
The works of contemporary Azerbaijani writers and poets Samad Vurgun, Mirza Ibrahimov, Nabi Khazri, Khalil Rza Uluturk were also published in Uzbekistan repeatedly.
It is pertinent here to mention that Sabir Rustamkhanly’s novel “Goy Tanri” has been translated by Usman Kuchkar into the Uzbek language still in 2010 in Tashkent.
In his interview, Sabir Rstamkhanly reminds his Uzbek friends, stressing necessity of continuation of the brotherly relations and cultural cooperation.
