‘Vietnam attaches importance to development of relationship with Azerbaijan’
Baku, November 21 (AZERTAC). Vietnam attaches importance to development of relationship with Azerbaijan, chairman of the External Relations Commission of the Vietnam Communist Party`s Central Committee, Hoang Binh Quan said at his meeting with deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov.
Hoang Binh Quan spoke of the achievements that his country gained over the past 20 years. According to him, Vietnam is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy, social and education spheres. He added Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations had old history.
For his part, Khalaf Khalafov praised the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam. The deputy minister said the Vietnamese delegation`s visit to Azerbaijan would give impetus to bilateral ties. Khalafov also hailed Azerbaijan-Vietnam cooperation within international organizations.
Khalafov noted opening of embassies of Azerbaijan in Hanoi and Vietnam in Baku would contribute to development of ties between the two countries. He pointed out there were great opportunities to boost bilateral cooperation in energy and education spheres.
The deputy minister also spoke of the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying 20 percent of territories of Azerbaijan was occupied and more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven out from their original lands by Armenia. “The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is an obstacle to development process and stability in the region. The OSCE Minsk Group`s mediation efforts to solve the problem yielded no results so far. Official Yerevan does not honor resolutions and other documents of international organizations, including UN Security Council.”
