World Bank delegation visits "Azersu" OJSC
Baku, May 4 (AZERTAC). Representatives of the World Bank (WB) have visited the “Azersu” OJSC to inspect the implementation of the project “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project” financed by the Azerbaijan Government and WB.
Recalling long-term cooperation of Azersu” OJSC with World Bank, chairman of the Company Gorkhmaz Huseynov praised the WB`s participation in social-infrastructure projects. He said that water supply and sanitation systems of Gabala, Shamakhi, Saatli, and Sabirabad towns would be reconstructed under “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project”.
Expressing her satisfaction with cooperation with the Azerbaijan Government, World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan Larisa Leshchenko hailed the works done on the project.
Head of the WB delegation Manuel Marino stressed that the WB would support Azerbaijan`s water supply and sewerage systems reconstruction projects in future. He also said that Azerbaijan`s proposals on additional funds for the project were submitted to the WB Board of Directors.
The “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project” covers reconstruction of water supply systems in Gabala, Shamakhi, Saatli, and Sabirabad. The first phase on the project was completed in Shamakhi and Gabala towns. At the second phase sewerage systems of the towns will be reconstructed.
After the implementation of the project water supply and sanitation systems of more over 100 thousand people in Gabala, Shamakhi, Saatli, and Sabirabad towns will be improved.
