YARAT! Contemporary Art Space presents Orkhan Mammad`s project “VIP underpass”
Baku, May 1 (AZERTAC). YARAT! Contemporary Art Space has presented Orkhan Mammad`s “VIP underpass” project within the Baku Public Art Festival.
Orkhan Mammad is a graphic designer. He has received awards at the Felicity Design Competition, Milan, EBIKO web graphic design competition, Ankara.
To promote the use of underpasses, which are currently neglected in Baku leading to danger for pedestrians and drivers, Mammad will adorn several underpasses with mock VIP carpets and decorative protective railings. While raising awareness for pedestrians he also hopes to encourage the use of the walkways.
Founded in 2011 by Aida Mahmudova, YARAT! Contemporary Art Space is a non-commercial organization dedicated to the promotion and nurturing of Contemporary art in Azerbaijan. Based in Baku, YARAT! aims to create a platform, in the country and internationally, for established as well as emerging artists, implementing its aim through organising exhibitions, events and educational programs. Looking to the future, one of the key objectives of YARAT! is to form dialogue, exchange and bridge the gap between different cultures as well as art institutions.
YARAT! also aims to provide educational initiatives consisting of lectures, seminars and master classes on a variety of related topics on contemporary art as well as an international artist in residence programme.
