Austria hosts forum of Azerbaijani students in Europe
Vienna, October 30 (AZERTAC). The Forum of Azerbaijani students in Europe was held here on October 26-27.
The first session organized in the second day of the forum saw reports on legal, humanitarian and other aspects of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Deputy permanent representative of Azerbaijan in UN, expert for international law Tofiq Musayev provided information on the legal aspects of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the legal status of the Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, settlement of the conflict on the basis of international norms and principles, the legal assessment of the conflict by international organizations and the fair position of Azerbaijan based on international law.
MP Rovshan Rzayev updated participants on the establishment and activity of the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan Public Union, the contribution that people`s diplomacy may have in the resolution of the conflict and shared thoughts about the humanitarian aspects of the conflict.
Head of the Center for Strategic Studies at the President of Azerbaijan Farhad Mammadov gave information about the activity of the leading brain centers and the world researchers on the conflict, the projects implemented with participation of foreign experts, as well as the strategic directions to be taken into account after the conflict.
The coordinators of the campaign “Justice for Khojaly” held on the initiative of the head coordinator of the Youth Forum of the Islamic Cooperation Organization Leyla Aliyeva, Nijat Mammadli and Sevinj Isgandarova briefed attendees on the organization of the activity of the youth and students in informing the world community about Karabakh, directions in activity and made an interactive presentation on the campaign.
Members of the Azerbaijani academic association in Vienna Ramin Shukurov and Razim Saidov presented the concept which will promote the lasting nature to the Vienna forum in the future.
The session on the international community`s opinion about the resolution of the conflict and the role of youth in strengthening Azerbaijan`s positions was held in the second half of the day.
Other speakers at the event included head of the international center for defense studies, Ambassador Matthew Bryza, editor-in-chief of the Turkish Policy Quarterly Nigar Geksel, executive director of the US Azeris Network (USAN) Adil Bagirov.
The speakers spoke on the main issues as the outlook of the conflict in the international world, existing stereotypes, double standards, organization of the diaspora activity, and popularization of Azerbaijan abroad.
