Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan discuss cooperation between news agencies
Baku, August 23 (AZERTAC). Turkmenistan`s ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyli Komekov has today visited the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC).
Director General of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov briefed the diplomat on the history and activity of the country`s official news agency, which was founded in 1920.
The Director General touched upon the achievements of Azerbaijan since national leader Heydar Aliyev`s retutning to power, the national leader`s care and attention to AZERTAC and rapid development of modern Azerbaijan under President Ilham Aliyev.
Aslan Aslanov said Azerbaijan became a leading country in the region.
“These successes opened new opportunities for expansion of AzertAc`s foreign relations even more.”
During the meeting, they noted Azerbaijani and Turkmen peoples have common historical roots.
They underlined the importance of exchange of news for development of these relations.
The parties noted that establishment of official relations between AZERTAC and the State News Agency of Turkmenistan would contribute to developing bilateral ties.
Ambassador Komekov said Turkmenistan was interested in establishment of official relations between the two countries` national news agencies.
He proposed drawing up a relevant agreement.
