AZERI JAZZ MUSICIAN ISRAF SARABSKY WINS MONTREUX FESTIVAL

Baku, July 20 (AZERTAC). Popular Azerbaijani jazzmen Israf Sarabsky is winner of the International Festival held in Montreux, city of Switzerland, Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism said.

The level of the piano competition was so high this year that the jury chooses two winners: Israf Sarabsky and Beka Gochiashvili (Georgia). The 2nd prize goes to Franz von Chossy (Germany) and the 3rd to Claude Diallo (Swizerland).

The young Azerbaijani jazz pianist Shahin Novrasly was also one of the prize-winners of the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2007.

Originally a pure jazz festival, it opened up in the 1970s and today presents artists of nearly every imaginable music style.
