Baku hosts Azerbaijan-China business forum
Baku, April 18 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani and Chinese businessmen have come together in Baku for a joint forum co-organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijani deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov hailed the relations between the two countries.
He said the Azerbaijani-Chinese Inter-Governmental Commission had held four meetings so far, adding: “The protocols signed at those meetings cover different areas. About 20 documents were signed between the two countries in the field of economic cooperation, and the sides now have a strong legal basis.”
“China is one of the main strategic partners of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan attaches great importance to extension of ties with this country. I hope that today’s business forum will give an impetus to further enhancing of the existing relations.”
Safarov said 69 Chinese companies were operating in the fields of trade, communication, construction, agriculture and banking in Azerbaijan.
Deputy Chairman of China`s Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhang Wei stressed the importance of effective using economic potential of both countries. He added that expansion of cooperation between the businessmen would be a significant boost to development of economic and trade ties between China and Azerbaijan.
Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan Hong Jiuyin briefed the forum participants on the prospects for development of relations and partnership between the two countries.
AZPROMO and SSPIT signed a memorandum of understanding on mutual cooperation.
The event brought together Chinese entrepreneurs operating in a variety of sectors, including food, trucks, construction, ICT, infrastructure, energy, processing, logistics, tourism, media, and real estate, as well as representatives of government agencies.
