Baku State University, FAO explore cooperation

Elchin Babayev, Rector of Azerbaijan’s Baku State University (BSU), met with Nasar Hayat, Representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Head of FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan.
The meeting reviewed the existing collaboration and future projects between BSU and FAO.
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev briefed the FAO official on BSU’s research capabilities in agrarian sciences, biology, and food security, its innovative laboratory base, and the university’s experience in participating in international projects. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with FAO in scientific research, expert support, and specialist training.
FAO Representative Nasar Hayat noted that FAO’s experience combined with BSU’s strong academic and laboratory potential would contribute significantly to the development of agricultural and food systems in Azerbaijan.
The discussions covered organizing joint conferences, scientific and practical events across the Azerbaijani regions, participation of FAO specialists in training programs at BSU, and boosting mutual knowledge exchange.
In conclusion, the sides agreed to consistently advance cooperation across areas of shared interest, as well as develop a concrete action plan.
