Diocesan religious and cultural center to be built in Baku
Baku, February 5 (AZERTAC). "Various religious communities have equal rights in Azerbaijan. In this case, in a real danger of pseudo-religious extremism, the legal system of the country restricts outside influence on religious organizations, prevents malicious propaganda of radical ideas," said Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, speaking at the 2nd Bishops' Council in Baku.
"Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church maintains the traditionally friendly relations with the Caucasus Muslims Board, the European Community of Mountain Jews, and the Catholic community," said Bishop.
He also said that in accordance with the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, area adjacent to the Cathedral of the Holy Myrrh-bearers in Baku has been transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church for the construction of the Diocesan religious and cultural center. The official foundation laying ceremony took place last year in June.
