Gabala hosts international conference on culture of ancient Azerbaijan
Gabala, November 10 (AZERTAC). The international conference titled "Culture of ancient urban Azerbaijan in the context of world urbanization" is underway in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
The conference organized by the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Azerbaijan’s Academy of Sciences, the Association of Azerbaijan-Korean cultural exchange SEBA (Seoul-Baku), has brought together historians and archaeologists from Russia, US, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Georgia, Ukraine, Iran , Kazakhstan, Germany and France.
Conference participants visited the exhibition, which included more than 500 samples of material culture found during the archaeological excavations conducted here in 2005-2012.
The speakers emphasized that the number of archaeological expeditions has significantly grew over the recent years. In Karabakh, Ganja-Gazakh, Nakhchivan and Gabala regions excavations were carried out in cooperation with foreign archaeologists and experts. The findings were studied in foreign laboratories. Articles on the results of this collaboration were published in foreign journals.
According to the program, the conference will hear reports on archaeological research and prehistoric monuments of the Bronze period, and medieval cities of Azerbaijan.
