Iberdrola switches on 74 MW of wind farms in Spain
Baku, April 6 (AZERTAC). Spanish power utility Iberdrola (MCE:IBE) said Wednesday it had put on stream two wind power facilities in Spain with a combined capacity of 74 MW.
Constructed by Iberdrola's engineering division, the El Candal and El Segredal wind farms are situated in Spain's northwestern province of Asturias. The first wind park features 19 wind turbines of Spanish wind turbines maker Gamesa (MCE:GAM) and has a capacity of 38 MW. The 36-MW El Segredal wind farm is powered by 18 Gamesa G80 machines. Together, the two facilities will be able to produce enough electricity to supply about 25,000 households in the region, offsetting 100,000 tonnes carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
With the launch of the two facilities, Iberdrola consolidates its presence on the domestic market, with its installed wind power capacity now standing at 5.7 GW.
At the end of last year, the Spanish utility operated more than 14 GW of renewable energy facilities, generating 31.8 million kWh of power.
