Lithuanian-Azerbaijani scientific conferences takes place in Vilnius
Vilnius, November 6 (AZERTAC). The international scientific conference "Vilnius-Baku: Culture bridges" has opened in the Lithuanian parliament, according to the Azerbaijani embassy.
The conference initiated by the Lithuanian Azerbaijanis Society was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Vincas Krėvė-Mickevičius, famous Lithuanian writer.
The event was organized by the Lithuanian Azerbaijanis Society, Lithuanian parliament`s committee for education and culture, Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and Lithuanian National Communities House.
Vincas Kreve used to teach at the Realny School in Baku in 1909-1920 and was an honorary ambassador of Lithuania in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He was known then as Vikentiy Iosifovic Mitskevic.
The conference saw opening of the exposition on Kreve-Miskevicius`s life and activity in Azerbaijan and book exhibition "Lithuania-Azerbaijan literary bridges".
The conference was attended by Lithuanian MPs, Lithuanian President`s advisor for education, science and culture Virginija Būdienė, representatives of the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs and others.
Event participants first saw a clip about Azerbaijan`s history, national costumes, cuisine, monuments, carpets, musical instruments.
Azerbaijani ambassador Hasan Mammadzade, Lithuanian Speaker Irena Degutiene, Culture Minister Arunas Gelunas delivered their messages to the conference participants.
The event was aired by the Lithuanian parliament`s TV.
