Over 1.5m domain names registered in .az domain zone
Baku, April 7 (AZERTAC). Number of domains registered in the national top-level domain zone of Azerbaijan .az continues to increase.
As of 5 April this year, the domain zone registered 17,500 domains against 17,076 as of 1 March and 13,865 as of 5 April 2012.
Since the beginning of 2013, 391 domains were removed and 1,577 were registered.
The number of delegated domains was 14,311 compared to 14,422 on 1 March and 11,747 on 5 April 2012.
The vast majority of domains are still accounted for. az (16,331 compared to 12,803 at the beginning of April last year).
Also, 693 domains were registered at .com.az (615, respectively).
This is followed by:. edu.az (168 and 136),. org.az (91 and 90),. net.az (53, 55),. int.az (42 and 44),. pp.az (39 and 42),. co.az (39 and 30),. info.az (24 and 21),. biz.az (11 and 14) and. name.az (3 and 5).
Zones .imishli.az., .zaqatala.az, .pro.az, .samux.az, .gence.az, .shamaxi.az and .ganja.az registered only one domain pre each.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN, decided to allocate the domain area .az to Azerbaijan on 25 August 1993.
