RIGA HOSTS A CONFERENCE ON AZERBAIJAN
“Ojag” Cultural Center of Azerbaijanis in Latvia hosted a conference entitled “Azerbaijan in Europe: European democracy values and civil society, economy and globalization” in Riga on Friday, Embassy of Azerbaijan to Latvia told AZERTAC.
The conference was attended by Special Assignments Minister for Social Integration Affairs of Latvia Mr. Oscars Kastens, deputy of the Latvian Saeima, Head of the Parliamentary Group on Cooperation with Milli Majlis Mr. Oleg Denisiovs, Deputy of the Saeima Mr. Nils Ushakovs, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Latvia Mr. Tofig Zulfugarov, Head of the Department of the State Committee for Azerbaijanis living abroad Mr. Sureddin Humbatov, Head of the Advisory Council on Ethnic Minorities of the Ministry of Science and Culture of Latvia Mr. Roman Aliyev, Intercultural Policy Expert Ms. Irina Vinnik, lecturer of the Baltic International Academy Mr. Aydyn Askerov, representatives of international organizations and organizations of ethnic minorities, residing in the Baltic states, as well as officials from Azerbaijani Embassy.
The conference discussed several issues including integration of Azerbaijan into European community and the country’s adherence to European values and democratic principles. The conference also centered on contribution of Azerbaijan to European energy security.
Speakers and guests of the conference have been familiarized with exposition, featuring the 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and today’s Azerbaijan.
