Turkey`s embassy in Baku marks Republic Day
Baku, November 1 (AZERTAC). An official reception to mark the 89th anniversary of establishment of the Republic of Turkey was held Wednesday here.
Opening the event, Turkish ambassador Ismail Alper Coskun spoke of the history of Republic Day.
Speaking about Azerbaijan-Turkey relationship, the diplomat said high-level reciprocal visits, bilateral documents as well as the activity of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council contribute to strengthening friendship and brotherhood between the two countries and peoples.
The ambassador also spoke of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s role in development of bilateral relations.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Alper Coskun said Armenia must leave the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. He added the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was the problem of not only Azerbaijan, but also the entire Turkic world.
Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov congratulated the Turkish people on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. Sharifov praised Azerbaijan-Turkey cooperation in scientific, education, economic cultural and military spheres. The Deputy Prime Minister noted Azerbaijan and Turkey supports each other’s position on international scene. The two countries also work together to ensure peace, stability and security in the region. He also mentioned the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) project being implemented by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Sharifov said his country praises the fact that Turkey backs Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
The reception was attended by officials, parliamentarians, diplomats and businessmen.
