US Embassy hosts event for alumni of international exchange programs
Baku, June 21 (AZERTAC). The US embassy in Azerbaijan has hosted an event for the alumni of international exchange programs.
The event brought together finalists of “FLEX”, “UGRAD” and “Fulbright” and alumnus of US exchange programs.
The scholars as well as alumnus received certificates for their successful graduation of US Department of State programs.
The FLEX program, which has been run by American Councils in Azerbaijan with the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education and the US Department of State for 20 years, gives students a unique opportunity to experience life in the United States and to share information about Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani culture with Americans.
Established by Congress in 1992 under the Freedom Support Act, the Global UGRAD Program is no less relevant today than it was immediately after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The Global UGRAD program provides opportunities for full-time undergraduate students from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan to spend one academic year of non-degree study in a US university or community college.
The Fulbright Program, including the Fulbright-Hays Program, is a program of competitive, merit-based grants for international educational exchange for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists, founded by United States Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946.
