Baku, May 18, AZERTAC
“The reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan is based on the principles of sustainability, the "smart city" approach, green development, and human dignity,” said Anar Guliyev, the National Coordinator of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) and Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, during a press conference held within the framework of the forum.
Anar Guliyev stated that the destroyed cities and villages in Azerbaijan are being rebuilt in accordance with modern urbanization principles.
"This is not just a restoration process; it is the creation of a new urban development model. WUF13 provides Azerbaijan with an opportunity to share its experience with the international community and, at the same time, benefit from the approaches of other countries. The forum also draws great interest in terms of the number of participants. By May 17, 42,367 people from 182 countries had registered to participate in the event. On the first day of the forum, May 17, the number of participants reached 21,108," Anar Guliyev emphasized.
Anar Guliyev added that the Urban Expo, organized as part of the forum, brings together international organizations, governments, municipalities, academia, innovators, and private sector representatives: "The total area of the Urban Expo is approximately 35,000 square meters, half of which consists of exhibition space."
