Azerbaijan attended UN General Assembly’s Third Committee meeting
Baku, October 15 (AZERTAC). The World Union of Azerbaijani Youth has participated in the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee meeting in New-York.
Alumni of George Mason University, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Youth of America (AYA) Elchin Abdullayev delivered a report on social development.
On implementation of youth policy in Azerbaijan, Abdullayev spoke of the Youth Fund, which was established at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.
He also briefed the participants on establishment and activity of the World Union of Azerbaijani Youth. He also spoke of “Azerbaijani Youth in 2011-2015” State Program.
The General Assembly allocates to its Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Committee agenda items relating to a range of social, humanitarian affairs and human rights issues that affect people all over the world.
The Committee also discusses the advancement of women, the protection of children, indigenous issues, the treatment of refugees, the promotion of fundamental freedoms through the elimination of racism and racial discrimination, and the right to self- determination. The Committee also addresses important social development questions such as issues related to youth, family, ageing and persons with disabilities, crime prevention, criminal justice, and international drug control.
