AZERBAIJAN REFUSED TO JOIN “JUNIOR EUROVISION 2008”
Azerbaijan withdrew from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008, music coordinator of Azerbaijan Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Leyla Aliyeva announced.
“You know how difficult is to choose and prepare a performer without help and promotion. Successful performance for the most part depends on the whole team work, however we have not been assisted to find talented child and have to refuse the participation”, Aliyeva explained, adding, that one company is not enough for the preparation of the Contest worthily.
She has also stressed that Public Television had to pay a fine to the European Broadcasting Union for rejection of participation.
“As a member of European Broadcasting Union we have paid a fine, but I can not make the amount public”, she stressed.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 is to be held in Cyprus on 22 November.
