AZERBAIJANI FIRST LADY`S BOOK PRESENTED AT LIBRARY OF US CONGRESS
The Azerbaijan section of the library of the US congress has received a book titled “Rostropovich” narrating on the Baku period of life of Mstislav Rostropovich, world famous cellist and conductor who had led U.S. National Symphony Orchestra for twenty years. First Lady of Azerbaijan, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva is an author of the book.
During the book presentation at the Library, the photo exhibition organized by the Rostropovich house museum in Baku aroused a keen public interest.
Librarian James Billington highly valued new book`s inclusion into the Azerbaijan section. He said the section has 138 various publications and photographs.
Maestro`s daughter Olga Rostropovich said Azerbaijan played an important role in the life of her father. She congratuated Ilham Aliyev on his re-election as President of Azerbaijan. According to her, Rostropovich made many friends in Baku including President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador Yashar Aliyev stressed both UNESCO goodwill ambassadors Mstislav Rostropovich and Mehriban Aliyeva worked together on a number of projects popularizing world culture and music. According to him, Rostropovich contributed to musical art in Azerbaijan and participated in the social projects.
