AZERBAIJANI PARLIAMENTARIANS MEET VISITING EUROPEAN JOURNALISTS
Members of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) have met with visiting delegation of journalists from EU member countries.
Chairman of Milli Majlis Standing Commission on Economic Policy Ziyad Samadzade briefed them on Azerbaijan parliament`s economic legislative basis, the reforms carried out in the country and regional projects being implemented at Azerbaijan`s initiative.
According to him, Azerbaijan is known as a reformer throughout the world though it faced serious economic crisis during early years of independence, particularly, in the wake of Armenia`s aggression.
Mr. Samadzade pointed out in comparison to previous years the Azerbaijan`s budget revenues had been boosted with significant increase in GDP.
Chairman of Standing Commission on Legal Policy and State Building Ali Huseynov told of Azerbaijan`s relationship with the European Union and other international organizations.
He noted twenty percent of Azerbaijan`s territories were occupied by Armenian aggressors and more than 1 million people were driven from their homes.
According to Huseynov, his country hopes for the European Union`s support for settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully and on the basis of international norms.
The European journalists thanked Azerbaijani MPs for the meeting and detailed information. They praised dynamic development they witnessed in the country.
The meeting also revolved around development prospects for Azerbaijan-EU relationship, arranging reciprocal visits, expansion of regional cooperation and other issues.
