CONFERENCE ON ACADEMIC EXCHANGE BETWEEN GERMANY AND AZERBAIJAN HELD IN BERLIN
Baku, January 19 (AZERTAC). On January 16, Azerbaijani Ministries of Education, Youth and Sports, Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany and Society of “Azerbaijani Home” held a joint conference titled Academic exchange between Germany and Azerbaijan (current state and prospects) in the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Berlin.
Minister of Education Misir Mardanov, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, members of Azerbaijani Parliament Rovshan Rzayev and Akrem Abdullayev also attended the conference.
The aim of the event was to increase awareness of both nations about education policy carried out by Azerbaijan and Germany and discuss ways of further development of relationship on science and education.
MP Rzayev said such events will contribute to boosting of ties between the two countries in the field of education.
Other speakers, including Azerbaijani ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov, head of German Foreign Ministry`s Culture and Communication Department Martin Kobler, former German State Secretary, chairman of Germany-Azerbaijan Forum Otto Hauser, minister Azad Rahimov, member of Bundestag`s education commission Axel Fischer, head of German Academic Exchange Service`s department for CIS and Central-Eastern European countries Oregor Berghorn, professor of the University of Würzburg Eric Hilgendorf spoke of the current level of Azerbaijan-Germany relations, saying fields of education and science play an important role in this regard. Speakers also noted the cooperation agreement signed between Azerbaijani Ministry of Education and German Academic Exchange Service in 2008.
Later that day, the Azerbaijani Embassy held a reception.
