Czech parliamentarians visit Baku Slavic University
Baku, April 16 (AZERTAC). A parliament delegation of the Czech Republic led by vice-speaker Jan Khacheck today has met students and academic staff of the Baku Slavic University (BSU).
Rector of the university, professor Kamal Abdullayev highlighted the University`s activities and structure.
He said BSU has Czech language and literature department in which 50 bachelors and masters study.
The rector expressed hope that the visit of the delegation would contribute to further boosting relationship between the nations.
Head of the delegation Jan Khamacheck said “economic, cultural ties between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are effectively developing.” He notified that students learning Czech language would play a significant role in bolstering these relations.
He said it was his second visit to Azerbaijan`s capital. “I made my first visit to Baku in 2008. Since then, Azerbaijan`s capital was unrecognizably changed, and became more beautiful and attractive.
Students of translation department (Czech language) and international relations performed a program, reading poems and singing songs in the Czech language.
Later, the Czech parliamentarians visited a Centre of Czech language and culture. They signed a guest book of the Centre.
Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan Radec Matula and Azerbaijani ambassador to Prague Tahir Tagizade accompanied MPs.
