MIDWEST ELECTION TOUR PARTICIPANTS WATCH EARLY VOTING IN USA
AZERTAC`s correspondent Orkhan Muradov who is among journalists from 25 countries participating in the Mid-West Election Tour in the United State, visited the polling station in the State of Iowa to watch early voting.
Early voting is designed for people who will not be able to cast their vote on the Election Day. About 36% of registered voters are expected to participate in the early voting.
Ed Tibbetts, Political Reporter, Quad-City Times newspaper, told journalists that the high turnout in the election is associated with the fact that it is the first time that women-candidate (Sarah Palin) and Afro-American (Barack Obama) are running for the vice-presidency and presidency respectively.
According to him, these elections are characterized by low competitiveness and the emphasis on economic issues because of the ongoing financial crisis in the country.
