PROMINENT AZERBAIJANI SINGER, PEOPLE`s ARTIST OF USSR, MUSLIM MAGOMAYEV DIES AT 67
Prominent Azerbaijani singer, People`s Artist of USSR, holder of Azerbaijan`s high state awards “Shohrat” and “Istiglal”, Muslim Magomayev has died at his 67 in Moscow.
Muslim Magomayev`s star shined in the 70s of the last century in Baku.
Our outstanding fellow countryman frequently said that important role in his becoming an artist was played by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev.
Despite he lived the last part of his life in Moscow, Muslim Magomayev was always in close touch with his Motherland, where he was known as a strong patriot and was mostly loved for his song Azerbaijan, which became his "visiting card".
In his congratulatory letter sent to the outstanding artist on his anniversary, President Ilham Aliyev said: “We all are rightfully proud of you. You are our living history. Azerbaijanis who were witnesses of an unprecedented ascent of your talent will always value you as a great master of true art.”
May Allah rest his soul in peace!
