SEMINAR TRAINING FOR THE STAFF OF BAKU OMBUDSMAN OFFICE
A two-day seminar-training to review Articles 3 and 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights organized by Council of Europe`s Directorate General for Human Rights and Legal Affairs in tandem with Azerbaijan Ombudsperson Office for the staff of the office started in Baku on November 5.
Funded by the European Commission and the Council of Europe, the event is being carried out within the bounds of the Promotion of Culture of Human Rights program.
Opening the seminar-training Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova informed the audience on the activities of the Azerbaijan`s Ombudsman Institute towards protection of human rights and freedoms in the country.
Roman Huna, program advisor of the Council of Europe`s Directorate General for Human Rights and Legal Affairs stressed that political, economic and judicial reforms being implemented in Azerbaijan testify this country is a full member of the European family.
Council of Europe Expert Mark Andrew Cons, Head of the Department of Human Rights and Public Relations of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Justice Faig Gurbanov and other speakers presented reports on various themes.
