THE IRAQI GOVERNMENT EXPRESSED GRATITUDE TO AZERBAIJAN
The Iraqi Government has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its peacekeeping mission in Iraq, the Embassy of Iraq to Azerbaijan said in a report related to the impending withdrawal of Azerbaijani peacekeepers from this country. Azerbaijan has become one of the first countries to support the Iraqi people and provide Bagdad with assistance of all kinds, the statement says.
“The Government of Iraq expresses gratitude to Azerbaijani peacekeepers for the extraordinary courage they have displayed in Iraq mission”, according to report. Some 150 Azerbaijani peacekeepers deployed to Iraq in 2003, are currently protecting a hydroelectric power station which supplies Baghdad City with half of its electricity.
The Government of Iraq is looking forward to welcoming the top Azerbaijani officials to attend the send-off ceremony. The official Iraq has also presented its condolences to the family of Azerbaijani militant, who had died in Iraq.
