U.S. ENERGY SECRETARY HOLDS PRESS-CONFERENCE IN BAKU
U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman, who is in Baku to attend tomorrow`s Energy Summit, held a press-conference on Thursday.
He said “the United States has deep and abiding interest in the well-being and the security of all the nations that are represented at the Energy Summit.” According to him, “well-being and security are closely related to the shared interest that we have in energy security.”
Bodman stressed “our country is strongly supportive of the efforts of our partners, here at the summit, – the producing nations, the consuming nations and the transit nations.”
He also pointed out the U.S. supports all projects that would enhance global energy security by facilitating the transportation of Caspian energy recourses to world markets.
“Energy recourses that are transported through this region do not normally reach our country, but they provide energy security of Europe, and ensuring Europe`s energy security is the United States` strategic priority,” Bodman noted.
He underscored “the leadership and vision of President Ilham Aliyev has been exemplary”, adding “he has truly been a real leader and it has been a pleasure working with him.”
