Azerbaijani deputy minister of justice and head of state penitentiary service, Major-General Nazim Alakbarov met Thursday with head of Iranian Foreign Ministry`s department for Iranians living abroad Rasuli to discuss the exchange of prisoners.

Alakbarov pointed out cooperation between Azerbaijani and Iranian justice authorities have been considerably expanded, including on the exchange of prisoners.

Rasuli praised the treatment of Iranian prisoners in Azerbaijan.

Negotiations are currently underway between the two countries to send 20 Iranian prisoners back to their own country to serve rest of their punishment.

Iranian ambassador to Baku Nasir Hamidi Zare attended the meeting.
