AZERBAIJAN OMBUDSWOMAN ATTENDS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN TBILISI
The capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, on November 19-20 hosted a Regional Conference on the Rule of Law titled "Justice and Rule of Law in the South Caucasus - achievements and challenges for the judicial professions”. The conference was organized by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
During the plenary session, the participants representing Azerbaijan, Georgia and other countries, summarized the programs and defined priorities worked out in the sphere of justice and rule of law in South Caucasus. Other highlights of the Conference included issues of perfection of citizens’ access to judicial system and development of judges’ professionalism and legal competence.
Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova updated the Conference attendees on achievements being implemented in the judicial area of the country, as well as protection of human rights.
