AZERBAIJANI OMBUDSWOMAN ATTENDS UN CONFERENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS
More than 150 delegates from 71 countries including Azerbaijan`s commissioner for human rights Elmir Suleymanova convened at a United Nations conference in Nairobi to explore the roles of national bodies set up to protect or promote human rights in relation to the judiciary, law enforcement and monitoring of detention centers.
The participants heard regional coordinators` reports on actions taken in every country to mark the 60th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Regional coordinator for Europe, President of the Irish Human Rights Commission M. Manning stressed Azerbaijani Ombudsman Office`s effective activity in this field.
Elmira Suleymanova reported on human rights situation in Azerbaijan and activity of ombudsman`s office.
