AZERBAIJANI, TURKMEN PRESIDENTS MEET IN PRESENCE OF DELEGATIONS
On November 28, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Gurbangulu Berdymuhammedov of Turkmenistan met in Ashgabat in the presence of the two countries` delegations.
The Turkmen leader said relations between the two countries have been successfully developing, adding his country is keen to establish even closer relationship with Azerbaijan.
Gurbangulu Berdymuhammedov pointed out both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have a great potential to boost their cooperation in a variety of areas, including trade, economy, transport, energy, and humanitarian matters.
“The fact that the volume of bilateral trade doubled over the 10 months of this year is a vivid evidence of this.” he added.
According to the Turkmen leader, his Azerbaijani counterpart`s visit will contribute to strengthening relationship between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked Gurbangulu Berdymuhammedov for warm welcome and hospitality shown to him and his entourage in Turkmenistan.
He underlined strengthening of political relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was one of the key factors contributing to boosting their multi-faceted cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev said both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan support each-other`s positions on international issues as well as initiatives within the world`s leading organizations.
The Azerbaijani leader also touched upon Gurbangulu Berdymuhammedov`s May trip to Azerbaijan, describing it as what gave a fundamental contribution to opening a new era in the two countries` relations.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that “cooperation between our fraternal peoples and countries would continue enhancing.”
The sides then exchanged views on a wide range of issues representing mutual concern.
