Baku hosts “Media environment in Azerbaijan: current situation and new challenges” conference
Baku, September 26 (AZERTAC). International Media Center (IMC) on has hosted a two-day conference named “Media environment in Azerbaijan: current situation and new challenges” organized by the EU’s Baku Office.
The head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Roland Kobia spoke about the society-media relations. He said that a developing society must be in close contact with media. He praised media environment in Azerbaijan: “Media Freedom is one of the fundamental values of the EU. Azerbaijan does not have serious problems in this field. Azerbaijan has achieved great successes in last 20 years.”
Official at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Vugar Aliyev highlighted what had been done to develop media in Azerbaijan.
Oliver Money-Kyrle, Deputy Secretary General of the International Federation of Journalists, said the development of media is one of the critical factors in the democratization process.
Other speakers at the event included Aflatun Amashov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council, and Vugar Safarli, executive director of the State Fund for the Support of Mass Media Development.
