BAKU HOSTS ROUND-TABLE MEETING “AZERBAIJAN IN 21ST CENTURY-STRATEGY OF SUCCESS”
An international round-table meeting on the theme “Azerbaijan in the 21st century-strategy of success” organized by the Institute of Eurasian Studies, a Russian non-profit organization for development, took place at the “Europe” hotel in Baku on November 20.
The event has brought together over 60 representatives of the Presidential Administrations of Azerbaijan and Russia, members of the Milli Majlis and the Russian State Duma and political figures.
In his opening remarks, president of the Institute V. Tursunov thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for hospitality and the opportunity for conduct in Baku of the “round-table meeting,” which he said will not only allow its participants to exchange views on a range of issues but also help to bring positions closer and exchange experience.
On behalf of the Russian President`s Administration, the forum participants were greeted by the Head of the Department for interregional and cultural ties with foreign countries under the Russian President S.Vinokur. He underlined that the theme of the conference reflects existing tendencies in Azerbaijan. According to him, Azerbaijan shows stable economic growth intensively developing transport and communication infrastructure. He said: “This progress is based on the wise policy of the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, whose landslide victory in the elections was an evidence of high confidence the people of the country show in him.” Vinokurov described Russia-Azerbaijan relations as successfully developing and exemplary.
Head of political analyze and information support department at the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan Elnur Aslanov pointed out that over the past few years Azerbaijan has followed the path, which can be defined by the two words: success and dynamic development. He said that Azerbaijan is a bridge connecting Western and Easter cultures and civilizations. According to Aslanov, “Azerbaijan is not only a center of transportation of energy supplies a bridgehead for interchange among countries.” He stressed the importance of discussions with the Russian Federation and quoted President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as saying that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are of strategic partnership.
Afterwards, participants of the round-table meeting continued their work by sessions on the following themes: “Azerbaijan and Eurasia - stability and development”, “Role of political parties in Azerbaijan`s political system: program of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) as a basis for successful development of the country”, “Public administration system in Azerbaijan - effective activities of government, society and business”.
