Delegation of Ludwigshafen to visit Sumgayit
Sumgayit, September 10 (AZERTAC). Delegation of the Ludwigshafen (Germany) which is a partner city of the Azerbaijan’s third largest city Sumgayit will arrive here soon. The guests will take part in the festivities dedicated to the Days of the City, which start here on September 26. The delegation is led by the first secretary of the mayor of Ludwigshafen Klaus Dillmenger.
As part of the visit, the guests will meet mayor of Sumgayit, visit Azerkimya Production Association, Sumgayit Technology Park, and other places.
Both cities mark the 35th anniversary of the partnership. Early in July, the delegation of Sumgayit visited Ludwigshafen.
Sumgayit is one of the largest cities in Azerbaijan, located near the Caspian Sea, about 31 kilometres away from the capital, Baku. The city has a population of 308,700 (2009 census), making it the third-largest city in Azerbaijan after the capital Baku and Ganja. The city has a territory of 83 km². It was founded on November 22, 1949. Two settlements are within the city administration: Jorat and Haji Zeynalabdin, a settlement named after oil businessman and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev. It is home to Sumqayit State University.
