EXPERTS DISCUSS NEW POLICY OF UNITED STATES AT POST-SOVIET SPACE
A round-table entitled “The United States at the Post-Soviet Space: New Policy” attended by politicians, scientists, parliamentarians of State Duma and representatives of media, was held in Moscow. Discussed were issues of the US policy at the CIS space after THE election of Barak Obama as president OF THE United States.
According to the director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Victor Kremnyuk, the major function of the policy of the United States and Canada will be containment of Russia. He noted that in the American policy on post-soviet space there is no system. “There is benefiting of separate moments, including the faults of Russia,” he stressed. The expert considers that the US new president Barak Obama who sounded the thesis that “Russia should not be shouldered aside, it is necessary to start establishment of relations with Moscow afresh.”
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma International Affairs Committee Yuliy Kvitsinsky, commenting settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, stated that resolution to the problem would depend only on Azerbaijan and Armenia. At his words, “it is necessary to attentively watch the negotiations between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Barak Obama understands it and he will not run risks in the relations with one of these countries. The said policy is pursued by both super mediator states. He, relevantly, will support this policy,” the Deputy underlined.
