FLIGHT SAFETY PRIORITY ISSUE
Authorized representatives of the parties to the CIS Intergovernmental Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace got together for their 28th session at the Holliday Inn Hotel in Baku on December 11.
Opening the session Director of the Azerbaijan State Civil Aviation Administration Arif Mammadov said the event initiated by the Azerbaijan Airlines company aims to analyze the results of investigations into accidents occurred in Russia and other CIS states, and to consider related recommendations from international aviation committees.
He pointed out that achieving high degree of flight safety is one of the most important challenges facing civil aviation today. According to Mammadov, reliability of aircrafts, liberalization of aviation market and a number of other problems will be high on the session`s agenda.
Other speakers also mentioned the importance of the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization with respect to strengthening regional cooperation in the field of prevention of air accidents, creating a mechanism to control the observance of security and safety recommendations etc.
Attending representatives of the Coordination Council functioning under the Intergovernmental Aviation Committee informed the session participants on their activities towards training highly qualified aviation specialists and increase aviation security and safety.
