FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS WITH US MILITARY DELEGATION
Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with visiting Commander of the United States Transportation Command General Duncan J. McNabb and his accompanying delegation.
The parties pointed out that there are huge potential for Azerbaijan-US military cooperation, and stressed to the importance of intensification of direct contacts.
General Duncan J. McNabb appreciated the role of the Azerbaijan military contingent in Iraq and Afghanistan expressing satisfaction with existing cooperation in this field.
Minister Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to peace and security in the world. Foreign Minister drew McNabb`s attention to Azerbaijan`s peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. According to him, Azerbaijan is implementing infrastructure, school and hospital construction projects in Afghanistan.
Mammadyarov noted the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict poses a threat to the region.
