Italy hosts 14th World Congress of Russian Press
Baku, September 24 (AZERTAC). The 14th World Congress of Russian Press (WCRP) under the aegis of ITAR-TASS News Agency has started today in Naples, Italy.
More than 300 representatives of the national media, publishers of the Russian Press and heads of media outlets from 50 countries gathered at the Bay of Naples in the southern capital of the Apennines at the call of the World Association of Russian Press (WCRP). Aslan Aslanov, Director General of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency - AzerTAC, attends the Congress.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his greetings to the participants and guests of the Congress. "Your traditional meetings each year strengthen positions and make a significant contribution to the expansion of the Russian language information space," the Russian President said. "They unite all those who love our country and are genuinely interested in its successful development, promote the Russian language and culture and create Russia`s positive image to the world." The Russian President expressed the hope that participants of the World Congress in the Russian Press would give priority to historical education, the subjects of preserving common historical memory and respect for national spiritual heritage during the Year of Russian History.
The three day agenda includes plenary sessions on the subjects: “A new era of media and the Russian speaking world information space. Social media and traditional media: pro and contra,” “Prospects and problems of preservation and development of Russian language and Russian press abroad,” “Russian mass media outlets and communities. Experience and potential of interaction.”
It is planned to discuss the most important aspects of the new media`s impact on the status of traditional Russian media abroad, Internet`s threat for information space, dissemination by mass media of the Russian language and culture as a rich source for abroad.
