Kiev hosts meeting of GUAM National Coordinators Council
Kiev, September 15 (AZERTAC). The GUAM headquarters based in Kiev hosted the 25th meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of GUAM on Sept. 12-13. The meeting was attended by GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili, Head of the Foreign Policy Strategic Planning Department of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry Elman Agayev, the representative of Georgia to GUAM, ambassador Antadze, Head of the diplomatic mission of Moldova in Kiev Stevile, Head of Economic Cooperation Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Nikolayko and others.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan and focused on the issues of political cooperation, industry partnerships and organizational performance, as well as the prospects of cooperation in international organizations.
The participants exchanged views on the interaction of the GUAM member states on the agenda of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly on theme "Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development."
Parties supported the initiative of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly to send observers for the parliamentary elections due in Georgia on October 1, and Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 28 October, welcomed the decision to hold the next meeting of GUAM PA in Baku on December 19-20.
The meeting also focused on the activities of the working groups, in particular in the field of transport, tourism, economy and trade, culture, science, education, energy, as well as the fight against organized crime and money laundering.
