NAGORNO-KARABAKH PEOPLE DOES NOT EXIST, KHAZAR IBRAHIM
Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry Spokesman Khazar Ibrahim described as obscure the wordings “The people of Nagorno-Karabakh” and “participation of Nagorno-Karabakh as a party in the negotiations” used by the French co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier.
“The Nagorno-Karabakh people does not exist in general, and involvement of the leaders of the separatist regime in the peace talks is impossible,” Ibrahim said, adding that “it contradicts the Moscow declaration as well.”
He said that “the declaration was signed by the presidents of both Azerbaijan and Armenia that means that the parties in the conflict are Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
“Another reason why the wordings used by Mr. Fassier cause surprise is that the declaration was also signed by the Russian president, while Russia is one of the co-chairs. The fact that representative of one of the co-chair countries counters the president of other co-chair country is obscure,” Khazar Ibrahim said.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman pointed out that “population of Nagorno-Karabakh comprises both Azerbaijanis and Armenians, and both communities are citizens of Azerbaijan.” “That is why no the people of Nagorno-Karabakh exists, and such statements by the co-chairs are unacceptable,” he stressed.
