11th International Turkish Olympiad Azerbaijan final held
Baku, March 15 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan final for the 11th International Turkic Language Olympiad has been held.
Opening the event, Turkish-Azerbaijan High Schools General Manager Mesut Kurnaz stressed the importance of the event which involved schoolchildren from educational institutions in Azerbaijan.
The winners will represent Azerbaijan at the 11th International Turkic Language Olympiad due in May-June this year. The event will bring together a total of 2000 schoolchildren from 140 countries.
The main goal of the competition is to promote awareness of the Turkish language, as well as bring different countries closer to each other.
Students will compete in different categories such as essays, grammar, speech, folk dances, poetry, painting, theater, music, and worldview.
Azerbaijan was successfully represented at the 10th International Turkish Language Olympiad (“Turkish Olympiad”) which began on May 30, 2012, in Istanbul and continued until June 14th in a number of cities. Some 1500 schoolchildren from 135 countries attended the Olympiad.
Last year, 65 students representing Azerbaijan in the Olympiad stood out for their exceptional performance. Azerbaijani team won 12 golds, 11 silvers and 3 bronzes at the Olympiad, ranking 1st among 140 countries.
