Azerbaijan and Ukraine meeting on energy cooperation to be held in May
Baku, April 5 (AZERTAC). Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in the sphere of energy will be discussed in May at the forthcoming meeting of the joint working group.
The group will focus on Azerbaijani oil deliveries to Ukraine.
All Ukrainian oil-processing plants have already been reconstructed in order to secure successful use of Azerbaijani oil, Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko said.
Mishchenko claimed that one of the achievements in the development of economic relationships between the two countries is the creation of an ad hoc working group on energy cooperation.
"Currently, workgroup’s reps from both sides are discussing the profitability of energy cooperation. In particular, they consider the matter of processing of only Azeri oil (light oil) at existing refineries. In this regard, modernization of Ukrainian refineries is at final stage to prepare for reception of Azeri Light crude oil," he said.
According to the ambassador, the workgroup is also considering several options for the supply of liquefied or compressed gas, the question of co-operation on supply of oil and gas and is exploring the issue of alternative energy.
