AZERBAIJAN ATTACHES PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE TO RELATIONS WITH USA
“Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to relations with the United States of America. These relations have followed an evolutionary path, with our friendship and cooperation elevated up to the current level of strategic partnership”, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said in his congratulatory letter to Barack Obama on his election as the President of the USA.
The President noted “today`s close cooperation between our countries in a variety of fields, especially, in that of energy security, and the US` direct involvement in and overall support for the large-scale transnational projects under implementation, is one of the major factors of our success.”
The letter says: “we welcome the efforts of the United State of America as a Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk group towards fair settlement of our people`s most painful problem, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and pin great hopes for its soonest resolution on the basis of the international legal norms and principles, and for putting an end to the Armenian aggression and for liberation of our occupied lands.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that friendly relations between the two countries will continue to develop successfully.
