HEYDAR ALIYEV STREET INAUGURATED IN ANKARA
On November 6, a ceremony to inaugurate the Heydar Aliyev Street was held in Batikent suburban area in Ankara.
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Guler and his spouse, and Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Melih Gokcek attended the ceremony.
People gathered for the event warmly welcomed the first couple of Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev and Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Melih Gokcek unveiled a plaque marking the official opening of the street. The plaque reads: “The Heydar Aliyev Street was inaugurated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Melih Gokcek on November 6, 2008”
The President was informed that the 900m-long street was named after nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in June of 2008. There are also a secondary school after the nationwide leader and Heydar Aliyev park near the street.
