The President looked at the radar screen.
Afterwards, President Ilham Aliyev viewed facilities for defense against weapons of mass destruction, communications facilities and a center for special coast guard training.
The Head of State then visited a museum to view exhibits reflecting the history of the country`s coast guard.
The President also viewed a 530-seat club
The President then proceeded to the Heydar Aliyev museum where he viewed photos and exhibits reflecting different periods of the nationwide leader`s state activities, including his contribution to strengthening control over Azerbaijan`s borders. He also signed a guest book here.
Afterwards, the President viewed the base`s equipment, including specialized vehicles, mine-detection equipment, movable radar stations and specialized submarines.
President Ilham Aliyev also viewed the living quarters, which contain a cafe, shop, kindergarten and sports facilities.
The Commander-in-Chief then familiarized himself with helipads, naval training range, hydro-engineering facilities, and vessels and ships.
President Ilham Aliyev highly praised construction work at the base, saying all the facilities meet modern international standards.
The base was set up under the “State Program on technical development of the defense system of the State Borders of Azerbaijan for 2006-2010” approved by the President.
